An approach to the Tourist Board has failed to trace but, from references to a hydro-electric scheme believed to be that of Glen Affric, this must have been written around 1952.

The Long John Story
Long John DistilleriesGlasgow
7th. October 1960

This booklet was written anonymously but a copy of a typescript is held at the National Library of Scotland. It was originally produced as the official programme for the opening of Seager, Evans Ltd (now Long John International Ltd.'s) new malt distillery at Tormore. The text continued to be incorporated in the Company's publicity material for a number of years, but has now been superseded. When Tormore Distillery was officially opened a "Time Capsule" in the form of a pot still was buried in the forecourt. This contained: a recording of the chimes used in their clock; a tregnum of Long John whisky; a treatise on how scotch is made; a history of the whisky industry; names of plant employees; an American dollar; the names of all the Scottish clans; and samples of grain, water, peat and cask staves. It is believed that a copy of this booklet is also included.
