Notes:
The crew to whom the book is dedicated is Daisy Gunn.
The photographs illustrating the book were taken by Neil and Daisy Gunn.
The manuscript of this novel was the only one to be handwritten, all the others being typescripts, and is now held at the National Library of Scotland.
This travelogue is the story of an extended holiday taken by Gunn and his wife in an old boat round the Western Isles. The holiday coincided with him giving up his Customs and Excise job to take up writing full time.
